Hot-melt adhesive tapes for all types of sack

You can use the adhesive sack closing tapes from Schümann for almost all types of sacks and bags that are made from paper and Kraft paper. That means that they aren’t just usable on sacks and bags without a plastic inlay, but also on sift-proof combination bags with a PE inner bag without a hermetically sealed joint, and even for combination bags made from multi-ply Kraft paper with dust-tight heat-sealed PE inner bags. The use of two part combination sacks for bulk packaging purposes is particularly widespread in the international chemicals industry, the animal foodstuffs- and the foods industry.

Important: Due to the special recipe of their adhesive, the adhesive tapes from Schümann are among the few hot-melt tapes which are also suitable for the heat-sealing of woven bags made from polypropylene, plastic bags made from polyethylene and PET or bags made from composite materials. These types of sack are used for heavy bulk materials or in the area of end-consumer retail (DIY stores, furniture stores, etc.) – among others, as an alternative to the Hessian sack.

Optimum tapes for sacks

Fully automatic sack closing solutions

For the purpose of processing on automated packaging lines, the sack sealing tapes from Schümann are available in customised form on ready-to-use reels with a width of 45 or 50 millimetres and a length of up to 1,000 metres. We can also supply you with our hot seal closing tapes in any other width or length as required. The hot-melt adhesive tapes from Schümann are particularly suitable for efficient use in modern FTS-sack packaging systems which integrate the processing steps of fold, tape and seal (FTS). In FTS systems, supported by our heat sealed tapes, several hundred sacks per hour are provided with multiple folds with hot-melt sealing tapes which secure the fold reliably to prevent it from breaking open.

Error-tolerant and process-safe

When used in automatic packaging systems, the hot-melt reels from Schümann are error-free. All their solvent-free coating - which is made from hot melt adhesive - requires, is a temperature setting which is optimum for the process. The adhesive also penetrates the paper used for the sack, and binds small quantities of dust particles. Of major benefit during the packaging of bulk chemical or pharmaceutical materials is also our ability to adapt the recipe of the hot-melt adhesive to the sack material (paper, adhesive) on a customer-specific basis. In this way, following the automatic multiple folding of the top edge of the sack, the hot-melt tapes from Schümann are the ideal finish to the packaging process for bulk materials.

Sack sealing tapes with tear-off strips

The Schümann sack sealing tapes are also available with the option of inserting a tear-off strip. This takes place on a process-integrated basis during the automatic closure of the sacks with the hot-melt tapes. The tear-off strip, which is incorporated in the sack closing tapes, speeds up and simplifies the subsequent tool-free opening of the folding clasps of the sacks and bags. Apart from this use-related benefit, the tear-off strip also contributes to ergonomics and quality assurance, as it prevents injuries caused by knives, scissors or other cutting tools as well as the contamination or soiling of the contents of the sack.

Sack closing tapes in colour and with prints

For the further optimisation and individual adaptation of the sack closures, we can also offer you our hot-melt tapes in all the standard colours on the Pantone colour chart and with prints consisting of coloured text, graphics or images.
